Shangri-la Boracay: View and Breakfast

Posted on April 24th, 2011 by Kristel

The resistance of the mattress of the bed was perfect for my back. It was hard enough for body support but still soft enough to feel very comfortable. The pillows had the same feel as the mattress. The sheets were white and soft. Best of all, they were unscented thus did not trigger any of my weird allergies. I woke up relatively early the next morning. It was very tempting not to leave the bed but I was hungry.

Shangri-la Boracay: Room Service

Posted on April 23rd, 2011 by Kristel

And so we called room service to order and two hours after, I suddenly woke up, looked around the room to see if there was any food, and remembered that we, in fact, had ordered. I immediately called up room service and asked. Apparently, they have already gotten inside our room just to check how come no one was answering the door, only to find out that we were asleep. It was embarrassing. I asked for the food to be brought again, at nearly 12 midnight, and this time, I made sure I was awake.

Shangri-la Boracay: Bathroom, Pool and Beach

Posted on April 21st, 2011 by Kristel

Since we were on a beach trip, what better way to spend an afternoon than to swim. We took the resort’s buggy on the way to the pool and the beach. Around the property were several golf cart stations to make sure the guests can access all of Shangri-la. Unfortunately, the beach waves were ravaging when we were there. What’s New in Boracay?

Posted on April 8th, 2011 by Kristel

We’re supposed to be in the middle of summer now, but my stay in Boracay last March was half gloomy-half sunny, which I don’t quite understand why. These days, I’ve been experiencing cool nights in the metro. It is nice but it is eerie at the same time.

I am not sure what to make of my last trip. The island has been overly commercialized for years but I did not mind until this year. The prices of the food, activities, transportation and even accessories have increased. I guess the island has also been affected by inflation and I’m not sure I like it.

I can no longer count how many times I’ve been to the island, I just love it and I always keep coming back. I blogged about it in the past two years (2009 and 2010).

Anyway, for this post to be a bit different from the ones I made before, I figured I’ll share with you what are the new things to do in the island for the summer of 2011. Excuse the other items as they may have been in existence for quite some time but I have only discovered them now.

Riding the Waves

Posted on January 8th, 2011 by Kristel

Each surf trip is different. After a little bit more than a year of hiatus, I was finally to go on one again.

Yep, still in La Union, San Juan to be exact. Surf Camp changed a lot since I have been there last. It is continuing to develop. The room’s furnishings, beds, and the bathroom changed. The room on the ground did, where we stayed, at least. It was great. The bathroom in particular is more spacious, though I would still suggest for a hot shower, it already is a big improvement.
