The 5 star hotel in Manila, Sofitel Philippine Plaza recently launched their official Manila website: www.sofitelmanila.com. When social networking is at everyone’s daily lives, I find it thrilling that companies recognize this happening and does something about it to everyone’s advantage.

I know what you’re thinking. I’m months too late. Yes, that may be true, but I have an excuse. I watched the last show of the Manila run. Aside from that, the only reason I’m publishing a blog post about it is so that I can come back to this writing and re-live the musical again. Yes, it was that good.

Buffet dining both excites and scares me. I would like to think that I don’t exactly have the biggest appetite but at the same time, I like variety. The scary part really is the tendency to lose self control and eat the kinds of food that shouldn’t be eaten so much of.
Anyway, Escolta is relatively new. Manila Peninsula rebranded this restaurant so well, I couldn’t even remember its old name even if I was able to dine then more than a couple of times, including during shortly after the Magdalo mutiny incident. Today, Escolta offers a variety of different cuisines spread out for its guests to be enjoyed under one venue.
Upon being directed to our table, we were served a small tray full of different kinds of breads with butter. Our drink preference (not included in the price) was asked as well. Long before Korean Village transferred to Nakpil Street in Malate, I have been to their branch along Adriatico. Just like what Kamameshi is to me, Korean Village is the same way. I grew up eating here and I was too young to remember the first time I did. I have eaten here for so long that I do not even look at the menu before ordering. Me and my family would automatically call on one of the servers and place our orders as soon as we sat down.
Meal here would start with a selection of free appetizers. Cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, beansprouts, sweetened anchovy (dilis), spinach, sweet tofu. I always love that they serve those almost immidiately as they serve you their house tea as well. It keeps you from getting bored and from feeling too hungry (although I have to warn you of the kimchi, they are a bit spicy which is bad for those who have empty stomachs).

This is probably an old concept to the world but I believe a relatively new concept in the country. The concept was to serve only steak and fries to the patrons of the restaurant. The steak and fries dining of the Parisians is probably what adobo and sinigang is to us, comfort food.
I have always wanted to try this out because although I mostly do away with beef, I happen to like steaks. I have availed vouchers from Pakyaw for this. It was at Php 595 per set menu which meant 50% off from their usual price of the Menu Geneva.
