On special occasions, we would like to celebrate them with the people who matter most to us. I have celebrated several occasions in Sofitel Manila long before it was called that and I have always loved the place, besides the fact that it is the best resort in Metro Manila, the airy ambiance and homey feeling combined with warm people really make all the difference.
Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Easter Holiday. Are you ready for these upcoming events? Have not planned or undecided? Think no further as Sofitel has something different to offer just for these special occasions.
Chinese New Year
Starting off with the upcoming Chinese New Year this Sunday. In celebration, Spiral has begun including specialty Chinese dishes in their daily buffet offering since last February 4. Dishes like Chinese Raw fish salad, fried scallop with XO chili sauce (to which everyone on the table agreed is a must-try), Bak Kut Teh noodle soup and roasted Peking duck. For that exclusive feel, you may book their private dining room. On February 10, a fashion show by Albert Andrada will happen during brunch. Of course, Dragon and Lion dance performance is a tradition thus also happening on the 9th (7-8:30pm) and 10th (11am-12:30pm).

Hello guys, I want to write more travel posts but have been bitten by the couch potato virus, thus I have been spending more time in front of my TV because of all these season finale episodes. Anyway, I figured I can go back to writing and share with you my adventure from late last year.

Let me tell you a little background about my fascination towards Egypt. It only is my most preferred country when I was in high school. I think I announced it to the entire batch that before I die, it would be amazing if I could get to see the country, said to be one of the earliest places where civilization began. Pretty amazing and daunting if you ask me.

The 5 star hotel in Manila, Sofitel Philippine Plaza recently launched their official Manila website: www.sofitelmanila.com. When social networking is at everyone’s daily lives, I find it thrilling that companies recognize this happening and does something about it to everyone’s advantage.

Since we weren’t able to stay in Misibis Bay, I figured I can just look for a hotel that is quite convenient in terms of proximity to grocery stores and what not. That was when Hotel St. Ellis got to the picture. I looked for the rates in Agoda and visited the website of the hotel so as to compare. Since they were just about the same, I figured I will just book directly. Oddly though, when I gave them a call and requested for a quotation, the rates seemed to be different by around US$10. Anyway, I pointed out the rates they have over the internet and they gave it to me at that rate.

The rates came with airport pick-up and drop-off so I was happy with that. What was more gracious of them was allowing the two helpers we were with to hitch a ride with us even though they were not checked in the hotel. Props to Hotel St. Ellis for being accommodating.

And so this was where we stayed when we were in Davao.

The lobby was airy. We arrived a little past 6 in the morning as the hotel was around 20 minutes away from the airport by cab and we arrived at the airport around 6. We tried to check-in and I was asking if maybe we can be given a room to recharge for a bit and they said they were fully booked. There were a lot of people checked-in as there was some sort of convention so probably it was true. We had breakfast instead at the hotel. They had several food lined up for buffet but we opted to order a la carte as we were bound to eat buffet breakfast in the next couple of days anyway. However, our orders took so long. It must have been an hour. We were tired, sleepy and hungry, so we were far from having a good mood.`
