Last year, I almost forgot that I had a coupon expiring. I was one of those who was addicted in hunting for great deals online but now, I found a new way to save money. Not to even look anymore. Haha. Anyway, that coupon was Sandy’s Pizza. I bought it for around Php 600 if I’m not mistaken. This came with a large pizza (14” I think), a choice of chicken wings and choice of pasta.

Since it was on the last day of availing that I remembered, I couldn’t tag along anyone with me to go to one of their branches, so I had those delivered at an additional Php 100. As I was informed, the delivery took around 50 minutes.

Over the holidays late last year, I availed of Deal Grocer’s L’Incontro lunch set for around Php 600 (also included were a personal size pizza and a 200ml bottle of bubbly). I figured, I have been wanting to try out the restaurant for so long and since I find it difficult to tag people to go with me, I just had to make things happen. Also, I thought the voucher was pretty worth it, below is the run down of what was included with the meal.

The restaurant has that country house feel with its airy atmosphere and dark wood furniture. I had to call up a day before to reserve and we were seated right away when we arrived. The tables had a simple setting with green and tomato salsa prepared for the bread that they will soon serve.

When I was younger, I remember my Dad hopping around the country (and out of it) very often for business. I remember him going to Davao, among many others, several times in a year. I asked him for travel tips before I left for Davao then. He mentioned that we should stay at Marco Polo while we were in the city but we who travelled had budget constraints so scratch that (on hindsight, I should’ve listened).
Dad told me to try eating at Kulasa’s. I had no idea what type of restaurant/establishment it really was so we asked around. We were directed to Penong’s instead, as the people to whom we asked information from said that the both have the same concept. And then it dawned on me, upon arriving at a branch, they serve grilled food and unlimited rice, probably similar to Mang Chicken Inasal’s concept.

From what I gathered, Bonchon is a South Korean company with branches all over the world. The franchise has finally invaded Manila late last year and I think my fellow countrymen have indeed embraced it with open arms.

Case in point, I’ve never seen the branch in Ayala Triangle without a line. Although I get to see the area a little before, during or a little after lunch time, thus probably the case. But even so, I think that Bonchon is doing quite well.

This is one of the restaurants in Rockwell we frequent. They serve a mix of different Asian cuisines such as Indian, Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean, Indonesian and Filipino. The casual atmosphere makes the place homey and un-intimidating. In fact, it is a place where I often see families bond and enjoy their meals.

We usually order the following:
