Hi world!
Welcome to my crazy attempt to contribute to the society my adventures, whether it be about the places I travel to, food I devour, experiences I recommend, photos I take or just about everything my multi-faceted self wants to share.
Being a naturally curious person led me to be a wanderer, thus the name of this blog. I grew up knowing that there are a lot of places to go to and to learn from, which feed my satisfaction on having a world view. Knowing the differences to realizing the similarities of the people around the globe is one of the most exhilarating things for me, as information always blows me away. For this, I have kept a journal for most of my travels and I intend to turn it into something relatable to be published.
I write about food because I love to eat and I like remembering how they taste like, especially the ones I love. Also, can you imagine traveling to a foreign place, trying to assimilate their culture but never having to try their food? I can’t, because it is just impossible. Local restaurant discoveries also make me very excited thus a lot of these are in my blog too.
I am into photography but a lot of times, I only have my red point and shoot Sony T10 with me to capture the moment. I try to make the most out of it but it is starting to give up on me. On days that I am in the mood to carry heavy equipment (read: big and bulky), I bring my good old Canon 450D with its default 18-55mm IS lens and Canon 580exII flash while I still dream of a Canon 5DM2 with 16-35mm (because I like my lens wide) or any model after that one day.
Even if I started blogging in 2004 (about personal things that was locked and can be viewed by less than 5 people), the creation of TelWanders.com was due to the encouragement of Flaircandy, LushAngel, EdArevalo and Spundelusion. Also because I am a frustrated writer, I believe that constantly blogging might improve whatever writing skills I have.
Aside from dreaming of climbing the corporate ladder and reach its top, my hope is to spread information with a tiny bit of humor through this blog. I absolutely do not mind experiencing how it is to be a travel host (Richard Quest, Giada De Laurentiis, David Celdran, Susan Medina, well, you get the idea) so that I can gain more perspectives and be happy to see more of the world. To be a travel photographer would not be such a bad career to dabble (and hopefully immerse) in as well. One of my many dreams is to see my articles or photos be published. I smile just thinking about it.
I dream of these things because I do find composing posts, taking photos and telling stories to be actually therapeutic as these inject a little less routine in my world. I am starting this because one day, I would like to be an influential person who can help promote relatable advocacies that can affect changes in the world. And yes, I am still this naive, and I intend to keep it that way. =)
Happy reading!
Making things happen,
Kristel
