I blogged about Spiral a couple of years ago and now that it is under renovation, I can’t help but to look forward to its re-opening come August this year. During the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila’s official website launch, I got a glimpse of the food being offered by the hotel lately.

The spread was generous to begin with. There were greens and I think about four different types of dressing to mix those with. Shaved parmesan cheese and croutons were available too to top your dressing with. Some cold appetizers including potato salad and cold cuts, as well as a whole bunch of different breads, from soft to hard roll, to loaves were also included in the spread. And of course, my favourite, selection of cheeses! I got pretty much excited about that, especially that Spiral will have their own cheese room! I had my cheeses with crackers, grapes and nuts.

Moving on to the main dishes, there were four kinds. The Roasted Chicken Ballotine with cranberry jus, the Seared Seabass with saffron beurre blanc and cherry tomato confit which was light and moist, Prawn with olives in garlic-lemoncello sauce that were so fresh and plump and Grilled Beef Medallions with café de Paris gravy that was tender and flavourful. If I were on a diet (I try to constantly be, but obviously, I also constantly fail), this would have been the end of me. Everything looked and tasted really good, I could not pick a thing that I did not like.

For desserts, I usually go for sweets (bad, I know) just to try the cakes because I think the fruits are always going to taste the same wherever I get them from. I had a variety of small cake slices and they were soft and moist. It went great with the cappuccino I had too. Those desserts were drool-worthy. There goes detox and healthy eating out the window!

That was a good meal and I think a good mini-preview of what Spiral is going to be, are you excited? Apparently, Spiral is going to have 21 cuisines! Really, wow. Can’t wait!
