Gelato from Caffe Ti Amo
The Italian has invaded our city indeed. From our love for coffees to bags to shoes, our adornment for everything that is beautiful, believe it or not, we have been experiencing a lot of Italian culture.
I have been meaning to try Caffe Ti Amo because I have heard great things about their affogato. In the middle of fever, to make me feel a whole lot better, I was able to come by here and gave in to my craving. Although, I will have to come back because it was not the affogato that I tasted.
Caffe Ti Amo is a gelato and coffee shop in one. The first one of its concept by my knowledge, which is a pretty good idea if you ask me. The store offers different types of coffee, hot chocolate, Belgian waffle topped with gelato and of course, gelato itself. For a café that is in Greenbelt 5, I did not know that prices would be affordable.
The Italian Gelato starts at Php 49 for the smallest size. The serving was expected to be small but I think it is just enough to satisfy one’s craving. Me and my brother split a medium size with three flavours at Php 129. We chose dark chocolate, green tea and milk cheese flavours.
The dark chocolate was my favourite. It was very strong in flavour but slightly sweet. It had bits of tiny small dark chocolates which added to the nice texture of the gelato.
The green tea tasted authentic. This gelato flavour had a strong tea taste but on the sweet side (instead of being a bit tarty, I guess). It was like Starbucks’ Green Tea Frappuccino (which is one of my favourite by the way), but again, the tea taste was stronger. This is a great (and cheaper) substitute to Häagen Dazs’ version.
The milk cheese flavour was chosen to be an equalizer, kind of that of a sorbet, but not really. We just needed an excuse to pick another flaovour. This one though was more on the milky flavour side than the cheese side. I just knew there was some sort of a cheese flavour somewhere because there was a hint of saltiness in it (or maybe it was just salt, haha). Anyway, it is not something I am excited coming back for, but it was a good enough flavour to try.
This gelateria and caffe has quite a quirky yet comfortable interior. Imagine having a tree in the middle of the establishment, some intricately designed rocking chairs and mini chandeliers. It was like being on an enchanted forest but with good tasting gelato (and coffee, I am assuming).
Anyway, I have to go back here when I’m through being sick. I want to try their affogato. The mix of hot and cold will surely bring pain to my teeth but all for the love of good tasting coffee and gelato. I did not see straciatella flavour while I was there so I have to catch this next time as it is my favourite flavour (especially that of Amici’s).
